Gabriela Solórzano

El Salvador

Gabriela Solórzano, a native of El Salvador, is an accomplished artist with a degree in Plastic Arts and a deep commitment to social transformation. Her passion lies in exploring how politics shape the daily lives of individuals and communities, with a particular focus on the impacts of environmental and gender injustices on vulnerable populations, especially women. Gabriela’s work exemplifies the intersection of creativity, policy, and advocacy, as she seeks to amplify the voices of those often left unheard.

As an active member of the Ecofeminist Movement of El Salvador, Gabriela embraces her platform as a political commitment to addressing environmental and gender inequalities. Through this movement, she collaborates with like-minded advocates to develop sustainable and inclusive alternatives that integrate social and environmental justice.

With the support of the JWH Initiative, Gabriela embarked on a transformative journey to pursue a master’s degree in Public Policy in 2024—a long-held aspiration. This academic pursuit has not only enhanced her technical expertise but also deepened her understanding of how interdisciplinary approaches can drive societal change. Gabriela’s focus is to make a tangible impact within Salvadoran civil society by contributing to the creation, implementation, and monitoring of environmental and gender policies.

Gabriela’s vision extends beyond her local community. She dreams of building a Latin American network of women and women-led organizations dedicated to monitoring environmental policies and generating regional proposals that reflect the diverse realities of their territories. Through collaboration, she aims to foster an ecofeminist perspective that promotes equity and sustainability across the region.

Guided by a profound belief in the power of community engagement and participatory strategies, Gabriela aspires to weave art, policy, and environmental activism into solutions that empower marginalized groups and create a more inclusive, just, and sustainable future. Her work stands as a testament to the transformative potential of combining creativity, knowledge, and action to address the pressing challenges of our time.
