Richard OUEDRAOGO

Richard OUEDRAOGO is a young environmental project manager based in Burkina Faso, working with the Secrétariat Permanent des Organisations Non Gouvernementales (SPONG). Passionate about climate justice and sustainable development, Richard plays a pivotal role in mobilizing financial resources and overseeing the implementation of environmental projects within his organization.

Currently, Richard serves as the national project manager for several impactful initiatives, including Communities Regreen the Sahel, Programme d’actions structurées des acteurs de la lutte contre la désertification, and Resilient Food Systems in Africa. These projects focus on combating desertification, promoting sustainable agriculture, and fostering climate resilience in vulnerable communities.

As the head of SPONG's Environment and Agriculture Department, Richard is committed to revolutionizing the sector by integrating technical innovations, fostering partnerships, and securing funding to drive impactful change. He envisions becoming a leading figure in climate change and sustainable development, advocating for a development model that respects nature and environmental integrity.

To enhance his expertise, Richard is pursuing a Master’s degree in Agricultural, Natural Resources, and Environmental Economics. This program will deepen his understanding of climate change, agriculture, and sustainable development. Additionally, he is undertaking English-language training, including a one-month immersion program in an English-speaking African country, to better navigate international partnerships and respond effectively to global trends.

Richard’s vision is to transform environmental and agricultural practices in Burkina Faso and beyond, shaping a future where sustainable development and environmental conservation go hand in hand.
